Hire a graphic designer in Indonesia

Indonesian designers build brand and logo systems, social and ad creative, decks, packaging and print, UI and web assets, and illustration or retouching. Design is judged on the portfolio rather than the CV, so start with the work, settle who owns the source files, and hire directly with no agency in the middle.

Every profile shows unedited English writing and a self-reported level. ID-Verified badges show whose KTP has been checked.

What designers here are hired to make

Design splits by output more than by seniority. Someone who ships a hundred ad variants a month and someone who builds a brand system are different hires, so lead with what you need made.

An Indonesian remote worker at their home office
Brand and logo
Logo systems, colour and type choices, and a usage guide the rest of your team can actually follow.
Social and ad creative
Post sets, story formats, and ad variants sized and versioned for each platform you run.
Presentations and decks
Investor and sales decks: layout, charts, and a template your team can keep using without you.
Packaging and print
Labels, boxes, menus and flyers, set up with bleed and the colour profile your printer asks for.
UI and web assets
Landing page layouts, component states, icon sets, and a handoff a developer can build from.
Illustration and photo retouch
Spot illustration, product cleanup, background removal, and consistent edits across a catalogue.

Tools they already use: Figma · Illustrator · Photoshop · InDesign · Canva · After Effects

Say what you need made, in what tool, and at what volume. "A 40-page InDesign catalogue, print-ready, working from our existing brand guide" gets you a shortlist you can judge on one look at their portfolios.

How design work gets priced

Three shapes cover almost every design hire, and picking the wrong one is what makes a good designer feel expensive.

  • Monthly retainer. Right when the volume is steady and endless: social sets, ad variants, catalogue edits. You buy availability, not a deliverable, and the cost per asset drops the longer it runs.
  • Per project. Right for a brand system, a packaging run or a deck, where the output is defined and finite. Fix the revision rounds in the same sentence as the price, or the price is not a price.
  • Hourly. Right for the unpredictable middle: amends, resizes, and the small jobs nobody can scope in advance.

What moves the number is tool depth and production knowledge more than years. A designer who can prepare a file a printer will accept without three emails, or hand a developer a Figma file with real components in it, is worth more than one who makes a pretty flat image, and the work will show you which you are looking at.

We are not publishing salary bands for this role. Only two of the workers on this page have graphic design as their main role, and the rest hold design skills alongside something else, so a band drawn from them would describe two people rather than a market. The virtual assistant cost calculator prices design work separately from general admin, and the Indonesian salary data covers how experience and specialisation move a monthly figure.

English and working hours

Enough English to take a brief

Design is shown, not argued. The English you actually need is enough to read a brief, raise the question that would otherwise waste a round, and write back what changed between versions. Indonesia's national average sits in the moderate band, below the Philippines, and it tells you almost nothing about a designer whose portfolio you already like. Read the unedited writing on the profile, then judge the first round of feedback. One sharp question about your brand guide is worth more than a page of perfect sentences and a guess.

Working hours

Most workers are on Jakarta time (UTC+7), 6 to 7 hours ahead of London and 11 to 12 ahead of New York. Design runs well asynchronously and the offset works in your favour: notes left at the end of your day are usually actioned before your next one starts. Book one fixed weekly call for anything that needs discussing, because a whole design review held in file comments takes three days and two misunderstandings.

Common questions

How do I judge a design portfolio?

Look for the work nearest your problem, not the prettiest piece. A portfolio of gorgeous concept logos tells you little about whether someone can lay out a 40-page catalogue or hold a brand system across twenty ad sizes. Ask what the brief was on two pieces and what they would change now; a designer who can explain the constraint they were working inside is a different hire from one who only shows the result.

Do I get the source files, and who owns the work?

Agree both in writing before the first task, because neither is automatic. Say that the deliverables and the editable source files, meaning the layered Photoshop or Illustrator files, the InDesign package with its fonts and links, or the Figma file, are handed over and become yours on payment. Fonts are the common trap: a licence is usually the buyer's to purchase, so decide who buys it rather than inheriting a file you cannot legally open.

How many revision rounds should I agree?

Two rounds is the normal shape for project work, with anything beyond that billed hourly, and it is fairer to both sides than an open-ended promise. Make the rounds mean something: collect all your feedback into one pass instead of sending three notes an hour apart, because scattered feedback is what turns two rounds into six and a good relationship into a tense one.

What does a graphic designer cost in Indonesia?

Workers set their own expected salary and every profile shows it in USD and IDR before you reach out, so you can read the real numbers off the cards above. We do not publish salary bands for this role: only two of the workers here have graphic design as their main role, and a band built on two people would be a guess dressed as data. The cost calculator linked above prices design work separately from general admin, and design sits above admin rates because the skill is scarcer. Retainers, per-project and hourly are all common.

Can they work inside our existing brand guide?

Yes, and it is usually the easier brief. Send the guide, the logo files, the fonts and two examples of recent work you were happy with, and say which rules are firm and which are suggestions. If you do not have a guide, say so, because the first project then quietly includes building one and that changes both the scope and the price.

Do they use Figma, or only Adobe?

Both are common, and the profile lists what each designer actually uses. Figma dominates UI and web work and is the better handoff to a developer; Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign still own print, packaging and anything going to a commercial printer. Name your tool in the job post, because a print designer and a product designer are different people even though both are called graphic designers.

How does hiring work, and do I pay a commission?

You hire directly. Browsing profiles and reading applications is free. Messaging is the only paid feature: $49 a month, flat, with 75 new contacts a month, cancel anytime, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The contract and the relationship are yours, and there is no cut of the salary.

How do I pay a designer in Indonesia?

Wise is the usual sending rail, at about 1 percent and often minutes to arrive; Payoneer is the usual receiving option at about 2 percent. Avoid international wires for recurring payments, which can cost $70 to $100 per transfer. For project work, a deposit up front and the balance on handover of the source files is a normal and workable split.

Are the workers verified?

Profiles carry a trust tier: New, Verified, or ID-Verified, where the worker has confirmed their identity against their government ID (KTP). The tier is shown on every profile and in search, so you can see it before you reach out.
